General Mills Reformulates Yoplait YoPlus

Published:25-January-2010

General Mills, a US-based food company, has reformulated Yoplait YoPlus. The company claims that the yogurt now comes with 20% of the Daily Value of antioxidant vitamins A and E, a blend of special probiotic cultures and fiber for digestive health, calcium and vitamin D for bone health.

According to General Mills, YoPlus Light is available in supermarkets nationwide, and it contains about 1/3 fewer calories than YoPlus. The light version, at 70 calories per serving, is available in three flavors – Honey Vanilla, Strawberry Banana and Key Lime Pie.

Christina Meyer-Jax, RD and nutrition communicator with the General Mills Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition, said: "Newly reformulated YoPlus is now an excellent source of antioxidants, perfect for individuals who are proactive about making nutritious food choices. YoPlus already serves as a way to help promote digestive health and support bone health. With the benefit of antioxidant vitamins A and E, it is truly the yogurt that gives you more."

Betsy Storey, associate marketing manager for YoPlus, said: "With its smooth creamy texture and unique flavor combinations, Yoplait YoPlus is an ideal option for someone looking for a snack that offers health benefits and is full of flavor.”

YoPlus is available on grocery store shelves nationwide in six flavors: Strawberry, Vanilla, Cherry, Peach, Blackberry Pomegranate and Blueberry Acai. Retail price is $2.79 per four-pack of 4oz cups.
